For the last 30 years, Ms. Luther has performed everything from classical canon works in symphony orchestras to experimental chamber music compositions by living composers to traditional Irish tunes in pub bands.

With 20 years of individual lesson teaching, Ms. Luther grounds her individual teaching practice in healthy technique, music history and theory, and performance. As a public school educator, Ms. Luther emphasizes understanding, appreciation, and curiosity about music whether in the general music classroom or in band. She encourages all of her private and classroom students to explore their unique connection to music, wherever that journey might take them.

Ms. Luther actively seeks opportunities to engage, teach, and perform works written by other members of communities under-represented in in classical music—notably BIPOC, LGBTQ+, non-binary, and women composers.

Her other professional interests include creating original arrangements for unique ensembles, New Haven-based vaudeville troupe Madame Thalia among them. Arrangement samples (score and MP3) are available on request. She also writes about a variety of music topics, from pedagogy to practice to album reviews on her blog. Ms. Luther’s article, “The Benefits of Slow Practice,” was published in the January 2018 issue of The Flute View.

She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music from York College of Pennsylvania in 2006, graduating Magna cum Laude. Her mentors have included Lynn Yealy, Karen Botterbusch, Dr. Alicia Kosack, and Laurie Sokoloff.
